Dominique Niyonizigiye manages the Women and Sport and Peace through Sport Programmes within the Department of International Cooperation and Development of the International Olympic Committee.
Before joining the IOC, she worked for the United Nations Peace Keeping Mission in Côte d’Ivoire as well as for the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs in Nepal and Burundi.
Former athlete in her country Burundi and first woman in the Executive Board of the National Olympic Committee, Dominique has occupied a number of leadership positions in the Burundi sport movement as Chair of the NOC Women and Sport commission; Deputy Secretary General of the NOC and Secretary General of the Burundi Tennis Federation. Dominique is mother of three boys.
Dominique will be providing an overview of the IOC’s various programmes to develop women not only as athletes, but also in the various sporting administrations at all levels.
