Sport England, the English Sports Council, launched its national campaign ‘This Girl Can’ in October 2014 with the aim to encourage more women to exercise.
Research has shown that many women do not exercise for fear that they are being judged on their appearance. In England, there is a significant gender gap, with two million more men than women exercising or playing sport on a regular basis.
The campaign was launched in October 2014 to a TV audience of more than 7.5 million people and the campaign video has now been viewed more than 4.3 million times on youtube.
