SportAccord, the umbrella organisation for both the Olympic and non-Olympic International Sports Federations, has published for the second time since 2012 its factsheet regarding leadership positions of women in their member organisations.
The percentage of women within decision making bodies of the 107 sports federations remains low at 13%, despite 71 positions having been created since February 2012. 25% of the SportAccord members do not have any women in any of their decision making bodies.
Even though the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had set the goal for the National Olympic Committees, the International and National Sports Federations that at least 20% of decision making positions should be reserved to women, there is still a large gap and little progress has been made over the past few years.
